Okomfo Anokye is a popular character in the history of the Ashanti Kingdom. He was the first priest of the Kingdom, and through his help, the Ashanti Kingdom expanded and overcame its enemies.
About 300 years ago, before Okomfo Anokye died, he struck his sword into the ground and pronounced that no one would be able to remove it.
To this day, no one has accomplished this, despite many attempts. When you are in Kumasi as a tourist, going to this site should be included on your list of activities to do in Ghana. The site offers insight into the beginning of the Ashanti Kingdom.
